XX  Get to know Amaris.

It was moons ago when Amaris came into this world, small and fluffy. Compared to her littermates, many in number, they were easily the smallest one - but by far not a runt. Amaris was small, but healthy and strong like her peers. The sight of the five-kit litter often earned amused giggles and silent laughter, for each kit stood smaller than the other.

But Amaris, always at the end of that line, often felt a bit left out. Healthy she may be, her short legs prevented them from walking as fast as their siblings. And their small, fluffy stature often had them overlooked.

By no means were they mistreated by their siblings. By no means were her parents neglectful, despite not being the doting type.

Amaris developed late compared to them; so while they were opening their eyes, walking around, and talking together. Amaris, more often than not, unable to do what her siblings did, spent much time on her own.

Often, you would see the small kitten trotting after them, trying to play along. And often you would see dejection wash over their face as they realised, again and again, that it was pointless. That she couldn't keep up.

It went without saying that Amaris grew up to be a quiet child, but with a kind heart. They came to not mind the solitude, finding their own little paradise where no one else could. For you see, all the times she craned up her neck to look at one taller than them, she saw the sky, vast and blue. And it was gorgeous, intriguing and special. And when she got to see the night sky for the first, her whole world changed.

How did the blue sky that seemed so vast, powerful and lonely, hold so much beauty when everyone was asleep?
Amaris always wondered, mesmerised by the twinkling lights, that so reminded her of little beings walking across the sky. The darkness and calm of the night was oddly comforting to the child, who sometimes felt overwhelmed by the brightness of the sun.

The night was like an old friend to her, gentle and kind, welcoming with the soft light that reflected the moon. It often was that she found herself relating to the lights in the sky. They were all together but never to touch, never in the same place, always moving much like the felines around her.
Sometimes, she could find little patterns in the stars. But those patterns never were to stay. It was always like a special, one-night-only show - especially for her. And it was gorgeous every time.

Yet the one thing that never changed, was the moon. Sometimes, she felt like the giant, round light was an image of herself; living among those who never rest, while she goes at her own, calmer pace. Perhaps that's why they called her child of the moon.

Even while growing up, Amaris changed little. Even between the woes and politics of their home, they remained quietly happy, in their own world filled with kindness and care that they so wished to spread. Even the tiniest of bugs, they'd help get back upright. She found her own little paradise, where no one else could.

Their soul was a gentle one. One that was quiet, and soft, willing to help and unwilling to create argument - set in their own beliefs, rather than that of another, and trusting that it is right.

She saw the world in a way that few others could;
They never wanted to pay attention to the wrongdoings and ugly side of things. They always only saw the beauty that the world held, in every shape, form, being and object. They saw it all as a gift, some of which they liked think were specially constructed only for her eyes, and those she'd show it to.
Imaginative they certainly were, revelling in legends and stories of the great and strong and mysteries of the past.

And little them was curious, always was. Always wanted to know how everything worked, how everything was put together - how it was possible for little, mysterious lights to dance in the sky.
They'd play among the stars and view the universe if they could.

Her kindness was often appreciated, she liked to think, her willingness to help valued. In a world full of controversy and hatred, she aimed to keep on smiling despite the fate she had been given, despite spending many of their days in solitude.
At least, until she met their opposite.

...

They were the moon.
In flesh and blood.
